Congress MP from Kerala Shashi Tharoor may contest the election for the party president's post, a likely move that was reflected in a newspaper article he penned saying that the party polls were the first step towards rejuvenation of the organisation and that an open contest would strengthen the party and legitimise the incoming leader.
